Unravelling the Legal Maze: A Startling Journey into the Laws Governing the Ghana Flag and the Coat of Arms

Image
-By Hubert Tieku The saying which goes like, “we live to learn” , immediately made sense to when I had the shock of the year, 2024. And I believe almost all my friends who range from law students to lawyers and almost all lay persons will be equally shocked when they learn about some of the laws to which my eyes were just opened. I am saying this because I see them flout these laws “unknowingly” on a daily basis. One faithful morning, I was introduced to my senior and in the course of the introduction he passed a comment which led to the writing of this article. That morning I had a badge of the coat of arms on the collar of my suit jacket. Upon seeing the coat of arms he asked me why I was wearing it and I replied “I am wearing it to demonstrate my patriotism” . He said, “kindly go and read the laws on Ghana’s flag and emblem and come and tell me if you are actually allowed to wear the coat of arms on your suit.” At that moment I said to my self, “of course I am allowed to wear it b

The Ennoble Team as part of the Baking With The Needy Project visited the Chosen Children’s Home at Darkuman, Accra – Ghana. A PERSONAL VIEW ON: “In The Lonely, Good Company of Books” by Richard Rodriguez

Image
The piece of literature brings out efforts and struggles in reading tough or difficult books. From Rodriguez’s experience which tells us that reading difficult books for a sense of self-achievement is not a good way to read. On his part, Rodriguez just reads for a sense of accomplishment as it brings him confidence after helping him to conquer the awkward silence during reading time. The idea that “books will make [him] ‘educated’” helps him “to overcome [his] fear of silence” while reading. He never knew what kinds of books were most interesting to him. He blindly followed the book list without even realizing what he needed. What Rodriguez was enthusiastic about was never the content of the book but the ability to claim that he had finished it. He mocks the experience by ironically describing his feeling after reading with “in a ceremony of great pride”. The writer drew our attention to the fact that, when reading, we must read for knowledge and understand

BEAUTY AND LIFESTYLE – BE-YOU-TIFUL

Image
Beauty, to many is the way people look outwardly and inwardly.   Others limit beauty to the physical looks of a person, place or a   thing. Beauty can also be seen in the culture and lifestyle of people.   This is to say beauty goes far beyond physical looks especially     now,  with the pressure of daily demands and busy schedules, some   people hardly have the time to even look into the mirror or take   proper care of themselves.  Moreover, the way people dress, talk and even live also brings out   some beauty in them. Thus the saying “there is beauty in diversity”.   The knowledge of "beauty" often involves the understanding of   some entity as being in stability and harmony with nature. Physical   beauty often implies sexual attractiveness or desirability, but can   also be distinct from the two. Since beauty is a subjective   experience, it is often said that "beauty lies in the eye of the   beholder". A subject of beauty is anything tha

COMMODIFICATION OF WASTE IN GHAN A   By Dulcie Delali Attipoe    Over the years, waste management in Ghana has raised a lot of concerns with some waste management companies facing difficulties in discarding collected waste from the various homes. The normal trend in Ghana is, people will actually put together all kinds of waste into one trash can unlike other countries where wastes are separated and can be recycled.  It is also normal to walk on the streets and see waste being dumped in gutters, on the streets and even at the market places where we buy our foods. How does a country fight malaria if they do not look at their environment first? One can blame this problem on the waste management companies in Ghana for their failure to do their work properly. But the question is how do they help us if we do not help ourselves by changing our attitude towards the way we treat our waste in the country. What we fail to realize is that, dumpsites are things of the past and
